What we build
Quivell
Quivell takes a nonfiction book from an idea to a drafted manuscript, and puts a blocking human review in front of the finish line. It runs on your own machine, against your own files, using an API key you supply. We host nothing and we store nothing — drafting sends text to whichever model provider your key belongs to, and that is the only place it goes.
Every quantitative claim in the manuscript is sourced, cut, or explicitly accepted by a human — and the tool will not export until that is true.
How it behaves
- The claims gate is a blocking step before export, not an optional report.
- Quivell refuses to draft from an outline nobody has touched, and no flag skips it.
- Export writes files. It does not upload them.
- Your API key lives in a file only your account can read, and is never shown back to you.
- Once a book has one full draft on record, the cost of the next sections appears before anything is spent — in dollars, with the date those prices were recorded.
- A draft interrupted halfway resumes without losing work or paying twice.
And what it does not do. The gate names every claim the drafter logged. It cannot see one that was never logged. Quivell is not a fact-checker and does not replace one. Books drafted with AI assistance require disclosure when you publish them — Quivell does not make that disclosure for you, and no setting in it changes that obligation.

How we work
A tool that hides what it could not check is worth less than no tool.
Quivell's whole argument is that a machine-drafted book should not reach a reader until a person has taken responsibility for its numbers. That argument only holds if the software is equally plain about its own limits — which is why they are printed above, on the page that is trying to sell you something.
We build small, we ship desktop software rather than services, and we would rather state a narrow claim we can defend than a broad one we cannot.
